We are bringing down the curtain on yet another exceptional season, during which the Madlenianum reaffirmed its status as one of the leading artistic centres in the region.

Over the past few months, the repertoire has featured a dynamic rotation of drama, opera, ballet and concert programs, while children's operas continued to hold an important place on the bill, confirming Madlenianum's commitment to nurturing and building the future opera audience from the earliest age.

This season was marked by premieres that drew significant audience attention, with particularly standing out the dramatic production The Gentleman in Boots of Smoke, based on motifs from the works of Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky and directed by Marko Misiraca.

Among the most significant events were also the guest performances by the St. Petersburg Opera, which brought Bellini's Norma and Gounod's Romeo and Juliet to the Madlenianum stage, further confirming the importance of international collaboration and artistic exchange.

The new season starts on 29th September with the premiere of the drama I, Emma, created from Gustave Flaubert's novel Madame Bovary. The text and direction are helmed by Tanja Mandic Rigonat, who, through a contemporary reading of one of world literature's most famous female characters, opens up questions of freedom, identity and a woman's right to her own choices.

As early as the end of October, audiences can look forward to another premiere, Arthur Miller's After the Fall, as Madlenianum continues to build a repertoire grounded in the cornerstone works of world literature.
