LGT YOUNG SOLOISTS, Liechtenstein

The Neue Zuricher Zeitung wrote in June 2017 that “the sound of this ensemble merges in its strength a controlled tension and suggestive impact” while the Fanfare Magazine calls them by the end of the same year “one of the finest youth orchestras” which delights the listeners all over the world with its exciting performing at the highest artistic level. Since their first public performance at TAK Theatre in Schaan in Liechtenstein held on November 11th, 2016 and immediately after that their guest performance in Singapore and Hong Kong in December the same year, the gifted musicians have been invited regularly to renowned concert halls of New York, Beijing, Shanghai, Abu Dhabi, Moscow, Munich, Vienna, Zurich, and Tel Aviv. Being string ensemble by its composition and of changeable number of members, its gathers the most gifted performers at the age ranging from 12 to 23, most of who carry the joint “package” of more than 80 prizes at national and international competitions and already builds a successful solo career. Last season, the LGT Young Soloists opened the Liedwochen at Schloss Elmau Festival in Germany together with a famous soprano Juliane Banse and later on they went on a tour around Israel, Germany, Liechtenstein and Switzerland. Their most successful performances last summer include their debut at the Rheingau Music Festival in Germany and concert at the Tonhalle in Zurich. They were also performing four concerts and two public rehearsals as the residential orchestra at the Mattsee Lake in Austria. In January this year they made their third CD titled the Nordic Dream that was recorded in the Jesus Christus church in Berlin for the Sony Music label RCA Red Seal. It was preceded by the issue titled the Russian Soul (made for the same label) with the transcripts of pieces by Tchaikovsky, Arensky, Rachmaninov, Glinka and Kusevicky made especially for them by Paul Struck, the composer and arranger residing in Moscow. It is interesting that their first CD from 2015 titled Italian Journey was also recorded under the same label and received outstanding reviews only to be nominated for the International Classical Music Award (ICMA). In February 2017 they released a DVD version.

The LGT Young Soloists gathered five years ago based on the initiative of Alexander Gilman and Marina Seltenreich and with the support of LGT private banking. The concept of their work that is as simple as it is unique implies exceptional but equal young talents performing together with their peers in different versions: as soloists within their own orchestra, as tutti performers, or as independent soloists, but always accompanying each other and mutual (as well as with the audience) sharing of their passion for music. All these activities give them the opportunity to be regularly present at concert stages and acquire experience as soloists, chamber and orchestral musicians, building repertoire and developing their stage experience.  In all that, Alexander Gilman’s authoritarian but committed leadership in artistic and personal development of the young musicians plays a crucial, stable and persistent role. Thanks to the fact that they come from different countries and cultures and bring new ideas and impulses, the members of this dynamic ensemble establish international connections and friendships. A special advantage is the fact that the musicians are also given the opportunity to play the top-class instruments. Most of them come from the workshops of famous masters such as Antonio Stradivari and Guarneri Del Gesù, and they are generously provided by various sponsors. An exceptional and leading place belongs to the main sponsor, owner and founder of this unique orchestra, the Princely House of Liechtenstein, who have been dedicated for centuries to education and preservation of cultural heritage. In its long history, the Princely House of Liechtenstein has collected and created one of the most significant private art collections in the world – the Princely Collection – and on the other hand, the members of this renowned family have been maintaining for centuries their close connections with music and reputable artists, such as Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven. In that sense and spirit, their heirs are today’s leaders in the international private banking and management (their LGT Bank is more than 80 years old, it employs more than 3,000 people at more than 20 places around Europe, Asia, America and Middle East) continuing a firm traditional commitment of cherishing culture and art.
