10. EUROPEAN OPERA DAYS AT MADLENIANUMU
Since 2005 the Opera and Theatre Madlenianum has been the member of the international association Opera Europa that involves 137 opera houses from 37 different countries.
The first European Opera Days were held in February 2007, at a time when the Opera Europa and the National Opera of Paris hosted First European Opera Forum.
The first European Opera Forum brought together over 600 participants – around 400 opera professionals, 50 artists, 70 Friends of opera, and 100 young participants from around Europe. To make this major gathering on opera resonate beyond Paris, in celebration of the 400th anniversary of opera’s first masterpiece, the first EUROPEAN OPERA DAYS were created, encouraging European opera companies to open their doors and welcome diverse audiences with special activities. With over 100 participating theatres, the initiative was a great success with audiences. Since then, an annual theme sets the inspiring tone to these open activities.
This year brings the tenth edition of the EUROPEAN OPERA DAYS (EODs), with close to 90 participating companies in 24 countries, on the unifying theme, Theatre of the World.
The celebration of the 10th European Opera Days will be held at Madlenianum on 8th May with a full-day program.
