One of Slovenia’s most acclaimed vocal artists, Nina Strnad, will present herself to the Belgrade audience with her Jazz Band in the concert “Between the Slovenian Chanson and Jazz”, on Wednesday, February 4, at 7:30 PM, on the Grand Stage.
The concert is organized on the occasion of Prešeren Day – the Day of Slovenian Culture, by the Madlenianum Opera and Theatre and the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Belgrade, with the support of Triglav Insurance.
For years, Nina Strnad has captivated audiences with her exceptional musicality, a refined sensitivity to lyrics, and the distinctive warmth of her voice. Her singing is marked by a rare balance of technical precision and emotional sincerity, which gives her interpretations a powerful and lasting impact.
Throughout her career, she has developed an authentic artistic expression that brings together the freedom of jazz, classical sophistication, and deep respect for the tradition of the Slovenian chanson. She has collaborated with some of the most prominent composers and musicians of the Slovenian music scene, with a special highlight being her performance with the legendary Michel Legrand, the three-time Academy Award and five-time Grammy winner, with whom she shared the stage at a concert dedicated to film music.
An important part of her artistic journey is her long-standing collaboration with pianist Peter Mihelič, with whom she recorded the album V luči življenja: zgodbe slovenske popevke, offering new, intimate interpretations of Slovenian musical classics.
In recent years, Nina Strnad has been increasingly devoted to original music with the Nina Strnad Jazz Band, an ensemble of outstanding musicians and her long-time collaborators. Together, they create music that blends introspection, sincerity, and jazz freedom, while remaining close and communicative with the audience. The album Iskreno, scheduled for release in 2026, marks a new chapter in her artistic work.
A special place in her career is held by her collaboration with the RTV Slovenia Big Band, with whom she has realized a series of notable projects, including the original concert program “Naj povem o sebi …”, performed to a sold-out Gallus Hall of Cankarjev dom in Ljubljana.
The Belgrade concert brings together tradition and contemporary expression – Slovenian chanson and jazz – in the interpretation of an artist whose performances are recognized as a fusion of virtuosity and warmth.
