In this contemporary stage adaptation of a classic literary masterpiece, Tatjana Mandić Rigonat collaborated with Irena Popović Dragović, who composed the captivating music performed live; costume designer Ivana Vasić; video artist Jelena Tvrdišić; and choreographer Anđelija Todorović, who created the movement for the production. The creative team also included assistant set designer Miljan Jotić and assistant costume designer Ivana Šešlija, while the director herself designed the stage space.

The play explores bovarism, a condition that made its way from literature into medical textbooks, at a time when contemporary women need support, including from the theatre stage, in their search for their own identities. It seems that, day by day, modern women find it increasingly difficult to cope with the challenge of balancing the needs of the communities in which they live with those of their inner selves, which yearn for love.

Throughout the season, Madlenianum audiences will be treated to a theatrical event brimming with power and passion. They will encounter the story of Emma Bovary, whose fictional case, along with that of her creator, Gustave Flaubert, became the subject of one of the most intriguing trials in history. Tatjana Mandić Rigonat, recipient of the prestigious Bojan Stupica Award for Directing, offered audiences the opportunity to immerse themselves in the whirlwind of emotions experienced by an enigmatic woman and to leave the theatre feeling better prepared for the life that lies ahead.
