CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF

One of Tennessee Williams’s best-known literary pieces, and not only because of the acclaimed 1958 Hollywood motion picture, featuring Paul Newman as Brick and Liz Taylor as Maggie. This masterpiece play won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1955, has been restaged several times since and is still featured in the Broadway and West End theatres’ repertoire, representing one of the longest-lived plays of all time ever shown anywhere in the world. And now – Cat on a Hot Tin Roof in Belgrade, on the stage of Madlenianum.

A melodramatic story of failure and the last-minute real love revelation. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof follows the story of the Pollitts- Brick and Maggie, a married couple caught in the crucial moment in the life of a rich family from the American South: the moment when they are to find out that Brick’s father, Big Daddy Pollitt, is dying. The fight over inheritance creates conflict between two sisters-in-law, but also brings closer the restless bon-vivant character son Brick and his father; the plot conveying such abundance of real theatrical moments and emotion to leave no one’s heart and soul untouched.
