REFRESHING LAUGHTER

The uncrowned king of the comedy of confusion, Georges Feydeau, arrives at the stage of Madlenianum to amuse, entertain and make the audience laugh. The Lady From Maxim’s, along with A Flea In Her Ear, is one of the most popular comedies of this French master of laughter and theatre confusion. Written at the very end of 19th century, it achieved a great success immediately, so that even today, Feydeau is considered one of the most popular authors, both in the world and in our country. His A Flea In Her Ear has been played at the Yugoslav Drama Theatre as the longest-running performance in this region, and The Lady From Maxim’s had been performed successfully at the stage of the Theatre on Terazije 35 years ago. La Dame de Chez Maxim comes now to the stage of Madlenianum to offer once again that refreshing laughter that we all need.

After Mollier, Feydeau belongs to the rank of the most influential comedy playwrights of the French literature and the classics of vaudeville theatre. His confusions, surprising turns, jealous excesses provoke even nowadays the avalanches of laughter among the spectators all over the world. World-weariness, love, jealousy – are also the elements of the drama The Lady From Maxim’s, which has found its ideal interpreters in the director Slavenko Saletovic and a team of comedians avowed for several times already. But you, who read this program, will say the final word whether in the world of confusion a true comedy of confusion has found its genuine performers and its adequate audience.

Mihailo Ladjevac will play the role of Mr. Petypon, Ljiljana Stjepanovic will be Gabriela Petypon, Eva Ras will play the Duchess, Janos Tot will be Mongicourt, Fedja Stojanovic will be the General, and Katarina Radivojevic will play The Shrimp.
