On our stage, on 10th December, was held a new ballet première which was repeated on the very next day, 11th December 2011.

Ballet “North Fairy Tale” was made on the romantic, nostalgic music of one of the greatest composers of the 19th century, the Norwegian Edvard Grieg, which was composed to Henrik Ibzen’s play “Peer Gynt”.

The version that was, for the first time ever, performed in Belgrade is a part of so-called Zurich variation with soloists, vocal artists, whose performance on the stage caused the audience to applaud.

For the first time on our stage, the ballet was accompanied “live” by symphony orchestra with conductor Stanko Jovanovic while a complete authoring choreography, directing and dramaturgy, took a famous artist from Croatia, Stasa Zurovac.

Great music, great excellent conducting and interpretation, participation by Tanja Obrenovic, mezzo-soprano, Nenad Nenic, baritone and the young Jasmina Stojkovic, soprano (Solveig - vocal role), have sparkled excitement in the audience.

Efforts to achieve the desired, exclusive video design have been made by set designer Valentin Svetozarev, together with video effects by Marin Lukovic which gave the impression of three dimensions and fairy-tale events in several plans. The Narrator had a very small role, but the phenomenon of Miodrag Krivokapic on the stage is always inspiring.

This glamorous, expensive project, has been framed and founded by the ballet ensemble with young Milos Marijan who has excelled in the title role. He had the greatest artistic task but the great success of the performance is also due to those who had major roles primarily Bojana Zegarac (Solveig), Olga Olcan (Anitra), Sanja Nikolic (Ingrid), Danica Arapovic (mother Ase) and others.

18 pieces from Grieg’s music for Ibzen’s drama that contains all known pieces have been carried out, such as: Solveig’s song „Morning“, Anitra’s dance, Arabian dance, but also many unknown parts and musical solutions that make this ballet a multi project with coreodrama and opera-ballet dance, music performed by vocals and orchestra, narrator, dance, acting, singing.
