Premiere: 30.06.2018
Large Stage of the Madlenianum

Being always turned to young people, in its jubilee season Madlenianum started a months-long drama-music studio in which a unique creative process took place involving young actors and singers who were making a play which they created on their own, a play in which they chose characters, made a story and wrote their confession. It was premiered on the Large Stage at the very end of the season and judging by audience, this season we will see it again.

A large ensemble of young artists, many of whom are still at University, got an opportunity to present and confirm their great artistic potential in a creative way. Namely, in the professional cooperation with a Head of Madlenianum Drama, a director Ana Radivojevic Zdravkovic and with the help of a dramaturg Marijana Aracki, these young people have used their unique chance to choose by themselves the roles and the topics- characters from literature, history, their dreams and ambitions, their worries and intimate preoccupations, to write by themselves, compose, interpret through acting and singing, dance and pantomime, all what they wanted to demonstrate. Their choice- how they wanted to present themselves- fell on favourite readings and classics, as well as on the contemporary life dilemmas, on what obsesses and burdens them- family situations and relationships, abandoning homeland, love, search for identity and future existence.

That is how THE PRESENCE- an exciting musical performance, a confession of growing up, aspirations, anger, identity search- was created. The dramatic text, finalized by a dramaturg Marijana Aracki, was arising through a workshop both with the music and choreography that became a part of a play. The young creators have practically gone through all phases of a theatre act creation, experienced labour pain of the creative energy searching for adequate solutions, for strong and convincing expression, free of kitsch, pathetic, lies, formalism. What impressed the spectators at the premiere was their sincere experience of the interpreted text or music template, emotional identification, confidence and above all- demonstration of the new talents, a hint of a beautiful future of Serbian theatre.
